ChunCheon International Leisure Games 2008 made its grand closing after a 3-day competition and celebration at Uiam Lake, X-Game Park and Hoban Gymnasium.

Commencing with the opening ceremony on September 5, 2,500 athletes from home and abroad presented their best performances and impressed over 70,000 spectators.

By staging the first international-level leisure games in 2008 and having favorable evaluation from participating athletes and officials, ChunCheon 2010 World Leisure Organizing Committee gained more confidence in the success of World Leisure Games in 2010.

Athletes and officials didn't spare compliments for the world-class facilities for the waterskiing and B3 competitions, and the participation of world-class athletes enhanced the branding of the games, increasing media coverage.

Besides the official program, side events including leisure sporting goods exhibition, hot balloon ride, motor-paragliding demonstration, and CPR practices won people's interest.

It was noticeable to see many photographers and citizens who were eager to take the dynamic images of leisure games in their camera lens.

Games with world-class athletes gained more spotlight from spectators who were excited with their fantastic performance.

In particular, spectators at the B3 competition and waterskiing championships exclaimed at the extreme and outstanding tricks and postures, interacting with athletes.

A number of athletes and enthusiasts who came to ChunCheon for this year's competition expressed their best wishes for the World Leisure Congress and Leisure Games in 2010 when they expect that the improved facilities and accessibility will bring more to ChunCheon.

At the same time, however, there were not a few inconveniences that the athletes and spectators faced during the competition which includes the lack of shops and restaurants around the game venues and the lack of shade structures for the spectators.

With the launching ceremony of Citizen Supports, the organizing committee plans to attract wider interest and participation of citizens for the ChunCheon 2010. The Supporters expressed their strong commitment to the publicity efforts and to the development of programs that engage citizens in the 2010 World Leisure events.

In addition, the organizing committee said more athletes, better facilities and interactive programs will be prepared for the success of World Leisure Congress and Leisure Games in 2010 which will contribute to the path of ChunCheon city towards an international city of leisure and tourism.
