Preliminary Schedule
The main program will take place in a diversity of formats including: Keynote speech, Session, Poster session, Field workshops and others.
Participants can experience Korean traditional and present leisure culture through Social programs and Dinners. Field workshops will introduce leisure resources of ChunCheon city and will provide a space for communication between facility managers and participants.

Gun-Sik Cho

Career

- Graduate from Seoul Nation University (Politics and Economics)
Mr. Cho studied politics and economics at Seoul National University. He served as the Director of Ministry of Unification, Secretary at the Presidential Secretariat, 14th Vice-minister of Ministry of Unification and currently works as an advisor at the Hyundai Asan.
Hyundai Asan was established with a purpose to contribute to the establishment of peace, cooperation between South and North Korea and nation¡¯s growth.

In 1998, the company started its first South and North Korea cooperation work through Kumgang-san Tourism business. Since 2003, the company conducted the development of Kaesong Industrial Park.
Dong-Sung Cho

Career
- PhD from Harvard Business School
Mr. Cho graduated from Seoul National University and received his PhD from Harvard Business School. In 1978, after working at Boston Consulting Group and Gulf Oil, he began teaching at Seoul National University. He lectures business strategy, international business, business innovation and design innovation.
Mr. Cho served as an adjunct professor at Harvard Business School, INSEAD, Helsinki School of Economics, Tokyo University, Hitsobashi University, University of Michigan, Duke University, Beijing University and Nankai University. Currently he is professor of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

From 2004 to 2005, he served as the President of Korean Academic Society of Business Administration, which represent 87 business academies in Korea. Also, from 2005 to 2007, he was the President of the Korean Association of Academic Societies, which is the highest organization among 651 academic society including the Humanities, Social Science, Natural Science and Engineering. He served as the Chair of the Committee for Government Innovation Management Committee (2006~2007) and co-chair for the Company Cooperation Committee (Synergistic Cooperation between Big and Small Cooperations Committee) (2006~2007).
Since 2008, he is acting as a committee member for the Presidential Council on National Competitiveness.

He provides a view to establish leisure policy to solve Korea¡¯s low leisure competitiveness based on theoretical review of leisure and national competitiveness. Also, he emphasizes that in an again society, leisure culture is important and that relates to national competitiveness.
George Ritzer
- Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park

Major Book
- ¡°The McDonaldization of Society¡±
Prof. Ritzer is a distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. He contributed in the studies of consumption, globalization, metatheory, and modern and postmodern social theory. He is one of the most known academia through the publication of ¡°The McDonaldization of Society.¡±

George Ritzer, well known as sociologist, based on Max Weber¡¯s classical theory of the rationalization of modern society and culture, was first to advocate the McDonaldization, which is composed of control, calculability and predictability. His innovative idea regarding the McDonaldization in the leisure field has been a sensation.

Carl Honore
- Journalist, Bestselling author

Major publication
- ¡°In Praise of Slow¡±
Carl Honore was born in Scotland and was raised in Canada. After 1991 he worked as a journalist in Europe and Southern America. He also worked as a correspondent for three years in Buenos Aires. His articles were published worldwide including, the Economist, Observer, National Post, Globe and Mail, Houston Chronicle, and the Miami Herald.

In his first book, ¡°In Praise of Slow: How A Worldwide Movement Is Challenging the Cult of Speed¡± he talked about the Cult of Speed, which he claims is now a social standard for modern people. His book was published in 30 different languages and have become bestseller in many countries. In his second book, ¡°Under Pressure: Rescuing Our Children from the Culture of Hyper-Parenting¡± he analyzes the pros and cons of the 21st century child care.

He not only lectures at college, but also participates as a panel in discussions. ABC news introduced him as the unofficial leader transforming the culture that recognizes the ¡°slowness.¡± Newsweek also introduced him as world representative of leisure.
Zoltan Somogyi
- Executive Director of UNWTO

Career
- Hungary State Secretary for Tourism
- President of the Hungarian Tourist Office
From 1974 to 1990, Dr. Somogyi worked at Hungary¡¯s largest travel agency, IBUSZ. Based on his unique experience in the Tourism Law, in the 90¡¯s he established Somogyi & Szentes, a private law firm. In 1996, he was elected as the deputy state secretary in charge of tourism of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Hungary. He returned to the private sector in 1999 where he taught at Budapest College of Economics as an assistant professor. In 2002, he returned to political area and served as the President of the Hungarian Tourist Office. Afterwards he was elected as the State Secretary for Tourism.

In 2007 he was elected as the Hungarian Ambassador to Montenegro. His experience and contribution to UNWTO were highly respected and was elected to the UNWTO World Ethics Committee.

January 2010, Dr. Somogyi was elected as the Executive Director of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and has been in charge of UNWTO¡¯s membership structure, public relations and service.
Rejane Penna Rodriguez

She taught physical education in public and private schools in Porto Alegre and at the ESEF / Cachoeira do Sul. Also she was the Municipal Secretary of Sports, Recreation and Leisure in Porto Alegre for three consecutive governances, and President of the National Association of Municipal Secretaries of Sport and Leisure.

Responsible for the National Organization of the Eighth National Meeting of Recreation and Leisure in Porto Alegre (1996), the Second Brazilian Congress of Sports Information and Documentation, the National Meetings of the Program of Sport and Leisure of the City.

She spoke in the Encuentro por la unidad de los educadores latinoamericanos in La Habna - Cuba - 1997, in the 1st World Forum on Sport in Saint-Denis - France (2003), and presented a poster at the 10th World Leisure Congress in Quebec (2008).

In this year of 2009, in the? Ministry of Sport, she is organizing the Latin American Network of Public Policy Integrated of Education, Sport and Recreation, in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

She has published several articles and books in the Public Policy area of Sport and Leisure.

Cheryl Olson

- Co-author of the bestselling book "Grand Theft Childhood", published in English, Korean, and Japanese

Cheryl K. Olson, Sc.D. is an internationally known expert on how media influence children and teens, and using media to promote healthy behavior and development. She is a member of the psychiatry faculty of Harvard Medical School, and earned her Doctor of Science degree in health and social behavior from the Harvard School of Public Health.

In 2000, Dr. Olson co-founded the Center for Mental Health and Media at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. While there, she led a groundbreaking two-year, $1.5 million research project to study how teenagers use, and are influenced by, video games. The research was funded by the U.S. Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. To make her research accessible to everyone, she wrote (along with her husband and colleague, Dr. Lawrence Kutner) a popular book called "Grand Theft Childhood: The Surprising Truth About Violent Video Games, and What Parents Can Do."

In addition to her research, Dr. Olson consults with nonprofit organizations, foundations and corporations on ways to use media to change health behaviors and promote healthy youth development. She has produced videos for parents to help them maximize benefits and minimize risks of children's video game play.

Cheryl Olson and Lawrence Kutner have been married for over 20 years and have a 20-year-old son who enjoys playing computer games.
